Connection is a powerful medicine for men, and a lot of us don’t get enough of it. In fact, research shows that Loneliness kills.
For a lot of us men, creating strong and authentic connections with other men can be a challenge, especially as we age. Not only that, when we do hang with other men it’s frequently via triangulation, meaning our attention is on a third thing (TV, sports, cars, etc). Without intention, it can be easy for men to go months or years without really “dropping in” to a relational space with other men!
This virtual men’s connection night is an answer to that. Not quite a men’s group, and not quite a mixer, this will be a fun and powerful event where you’ll get a chance to drop in and connect with other men about stuff that really matters. You’ll be able to practice vulnerability, build connections, and have some fun.
Is this a men’s group?
If you have followed me, you know I’m a HUGE proponent of men’s groups, and run drop-in groups twice a month. Men’s groups tend to work best with smaller groups of men. Connection nights will be bigger virtual events, we’ll do some stuff as a big group, in small groups, and in dyads.
Preparing for the Event
- Make sure to update your zoom client BEFORE you login to the event. Hit check updates on your desktop, download fresh, or use the app store update on your mobile phone. You will only be able to hear my voice in the breakout rooms if you have the latest version installed. Do not wait until the last minute!
- The night will work best on a desktop machine, but you can attend using the zoom client on your phone or ipad.
- Situate yourself in a quiet and private space. Make sure you have some lighting, have your video and audio tested and ready to go
